Hello
We would love you to join us on the summer solstice to enjoy the Wensum Valley.
We are having a picnic and guided walk at Ringland. This will be an informal gathering, a chance to get together to appreciate this spot and learn more about the area from our tame
ecologist, Helen.
Details
Saturday 21st June 12.30pm Celebration picnic
Meet on village green in Ringland opposite the Swan pub (newly reopened!)
Relaxed picnic. Bring your own food to eat and/or share and something to sit on.
1.30pm walk - history and ecology of the Wensum.
There should be lots of plants and insects to spot!
About 1.5 miles on level ground on footpaths.
Or you can choose to stay longer to picnic by the river.
Parking at the pub for pub customers. Parking normally tolerated at Ringland church. Please car share if you can, or cycle if that's possible
for you, and park considerately.
See you there!
What's SWL been up to? Keeping the back the zombie....
Although we are celebrating the end of the NWL project, we are aware that it is a zombie road that may try to rise from the
dead....
The Plan B
We have been persistently trying to get our promised meeting with Norfolk County Council to discuss the alternatives to a road to sort traffic. No luck so far, so it looks like we will have to wait for the report due out next month. It's outrageous we haven't been any part of this, but
we can only keep pushing for proper public consultation with groups like ourselves,
The Protection of the Wensum Valley
We took part in the recent Local Nature Recovery Strategy Consultation, to highlight that bat habitat and chalk streams need additional protection.
Future campaigning..
We would love to do more on pushing for ambitious local transport changes, and to get the Wensum Valley recognised as the special area it is.
These are the two prongs of attack to ensure that a big road project doesn't pop up
again. We have ideas to work on these, and would love more help to follow up on them - do get in touch if either of these are your passion!
Looking forward to seeing you next Saturday
