The NWL issue goes national!

Hi ,

The NWL has been in the news nationally this week! The Guardian featured an article on the bat super colony. This is very much thanks to lots of hard work going on in the background to get the NWL seen as an issue of national importance.

It seems to be paying off!

The NWL will feature prominently as part of 'The Big One'. This is a large scale protest in London this coming weekend, and there is a picket at the Dept of Transport.

We have invited the minister of Transport to meet us, and will be presenting him with some art work generously donated by Tor Falcon, and a letter setting out all the reasons why the DfT should not be funding the NWL.

Please come and join us if you can, or on the Saturday for a march about biodiversity.

The petition has nearly reached 15,000!

What's next?

The Norwich Western Link planning application is on the agenda for the NCC meeting in June, but that doesn't mean it won't get pushed back again another month or months. At this stage we are really pushing the DfT not to fund, and building our petition numbers.

We will keep you updated.

Events

The Big One 21-24th April London

This is big event organised by involving now perhaps 100 groups like WWF, and Friends of the Earth, as well as small grassroots organisations like ours. It is strictly non-disruptive, and family friendly. No gluing or arrests! It is relying on big numbers to be impactful only.

Fri 21st April

Members of SWL will be picketing the Dept of Transport with other local anti-road groups, and TAN.

12pm-2pm is roads at the DfT - other events throughout the day.

Saturday 22nd is Earth Day -- An enormous celebration & family-friendly march for biodiversity in London! Costumes, music, giant puppets for the annual international day of environmental awareness.

There will be SWL members going - and may be bat costumes/puppets!

We really need all hands on deck for awareness raising and fundraising. If you were thinking of getting involved - now is the time! We are planning an event for July and need some input.
