Happy New Year!

 

We had another bit of good news at the end of last year.

 

The woods along the potential route of the NWL are on a list to be considered for SSSI status (site of special scientific interest).

 

If this status is granted it will mean proper recognition of the presence of the rare barbastelle bat 'supercolony' in the area.

It doesn't automatically stop the project, but it strengthens the legal protection of the area. We may well ultimately have to fight this road in the courts, and this increases our chance of success!

 

Don't forget about Untamed Tales on the 14th January... This is raising funds for the legal challenge against the A47 by Dr Andrew Boswell. This includes challenging on the basis of the presence of the bats, so is very important as it will affect what will happen with the NWL.
