Hi
On the 30th April we have the Rights of the River Wensum at Wensum Park in Norwich!
This is big outreach event to spread the word about how precious and rare the river Wensum is.
It is based around a ceremony to give the
River Wensum rights that should be protected and upheld. This is purely symbolic, but this is a way of saying that
upholding environmental and wildlife law is important to the people of Norfolk. We need rivers that are clean and allow wildlife and people to thrive in and around them.
The Environment Agency and other bodies that are supposed to enforce laws around protecting rivers are underfunded and under powered. So, we as a community need to step up to protect the Wensum, whether from sewage pollution or the threat of runoff and habitat and wildlife destruction from a dual carriageway.
Although there is this important message, this will be a fun family friendly day out! Childrens' activities, delicious food available, and music as well as the ceremony and speeches.
We would love you to come, and please do invite friends and family. Spread the word, in person and on social media!
