Come and join us on Saturday to Witness the Wensum.
Momentum is really building around this - Chris Packham has backed this, so this has the potential to be really big and impactful - but we still need every body who can to come, so come along and bring a friend!
We'll be meeting at 10.30am on Saturday 29 January, outside St. Peter's Church in Ringland for a briefing, before walking to location. Key points below:
This is a movement of movements action, with 100's of individuals from different organisations joining the protest.
Wear stout footwear or wellies, and bring waterproofs. Likely to be cold, wet, muddy and windy (but we know you are tough)
If you can cycle, please do. It's a pleasant ride up the Marriott's Way from Norwich - about 45 mins. Meet at the Forum at 9.30am if you want to join the cycling posse. Park bikes at Ringland Village Hall (near Church)
Parking is limited - there will be stewards present to direct people. Parking is available at the Ringland Swan Inn, as well as Ringland Village Hall (limited) and some on street parking. We are in the process of sourcing other spaces. Please car share if you can, we have some offers and requests, so get in touch.
If you have accessibility requirements please message us direct. We know it's not ideal for wheelchair users!
After the briefing it's about a 20 minute walk to location where Stewards will direct people to spots to stand to demonstrate the destruction the road will cause - we have props (but feel free to bring your own banners and placards), and hopefully a drone to take footage if not too windy.
There is the option to join a guided walk afterwards to see some of the delights of the Wensum Valley, and why we need to save it
Please join us at the Ringland Swan afterwards for refreshments - might be a good idea to book a table if you want food - https://www.ringlandswan.co.uk/ (we'd like to show appreciation to the pub for letting us use their parking)
Be COVID safe - respect social distancing, wear a mask, and bring some hand sanitiser, lateral flow before you go.
Hashtags for the day - #WitnessTheWensum and #NoNewRoads . Please post, share, like and comment across social media channels, especially if you can't make it in person
Transport East Consultation
Deadline 30th January
Only a couple of days left to respond to the public consultation the Transport Strategy for the East. The region wide policy affects whether roads like the NWL are perceived as 'needed'
It's got some good ambitions but let down by a poor Sustainability Appraisal and masses of road building.
The region wide policy affects whether roads like the NWL are perceived as 'needed' , so have your say!
