Join us on Saturday 29 January as we and other movements and individuals visit the proposed route for the Western Link Road, to view the devastation it will cause to the Norfolk countryside.
Meet 10.30 am in Ringland, at St. Peter's Church for a briefing, followed by a 20 minute walk to the location.
Please wear suitable sturdy footwear, it is likely to be muddy, and waterproofs might be an idea if the weather forecast is bad.
Unfortunately there is no public transport available . Options are:
- Cycle to Ringland - about 45 mins from Norwich City Centre. Meet 9.30am at the Forum if you want to join the cycling posse
- Parking at Ringland Village Hall and at the Swan Inn (about 15 mins walk from the Church). There is very limited on road parking available
- Please consider car sharing.
This website might help -
If you wish to join us but are unable to arrange transport let us know and we can try to help.
Bring banners and placards representing why you're opposed to the Link Road. We will be taking photos and getting an aerial view of the route, marked out by lines of people, to give an idea of its impact.
There will be an optional guided walk around the area afterwards with some of the ecologists who have been working on the site. Witness the natural beauty and abundance of the Wensum Valley, with its areas of ancient woodland, rare chalk stream habitat, barbastelle bat colonies and other flora and fauna.
We need numbers for this so please spread the word. You can sign up on our
Facebook page here, or just turn up!
There will also be this event, on the evening before:
Public Zoom Meeting: No New Roads - Stop the Western Link Road 28 January 6 pm
Have you ever been to the beautiful Wensum Valley near Ringland? How do you feel about the proposed Western Link Road? Do new roads really help to ease congestion or do they just increase the overall volume of traffic? And what about air pollution? Can we ever have a system of public transport that works for EVERYONE?
Come to our meeting to hear from campaigners and local residents to explore all sides of the arguments.
